The island of Ibiza is undeniably one of the most influential destinations for style and sound, shaping youth fashion culture around the world. Since rumours of an island paradise first attracted tourists to the island in the 50s, to the heyday of the rave scene in the 90s, Ibiza has remained as the leader of party wear.
Want a little fashion history lesson before you jet off to the white island this summer? We’re here to help. Let’s start with the 1960s: at this time crochet bikinis, headbands and flares were the Ibizan uniform of choice as the island became the hippies’ sun-kissed utopia for free-love and decadence. In the 70s the disco scene had found a second home in Ibiza’s hedonistic atmosphere. The island was an explosion of prints and colour. Remember what Miranda Priestly said about florals? Ignore her: in the 70s it was florals and psychedelic swirls all year round. By the 90s the club culture we know today was starting to take shape. Clubs like Pacha and Amnesia were becoming world famous along with their spontaneous and free-spirited dress code - think furry bras in the 90s and sparkly mini-dresses that would make Paris Hilton jealous in the noughties.
We bet this all sounds very familiar. Well, Ibiza’s long history of bohemian culture is still influential today and we can almost guarantee that these little pieces of history have found their way into your suitcase.
So, are you craving one of those care-free Ibizan summer evenings? We don’t blame you. Lucky for you, Endless Wardrobe has got all the party rentals you’ll need for your summer vacay (or even “staycay”).
